Summer car boot sale in Bon Repos sur Blavet, a new commune in central Brittany between the Nantes-Brest canal and Lake Guerlédan
The commune of Bon Repos sur Blavet hosts car boot sales in June and August, attracting treasure hunters from central Brittany. Private sellers set up to offer a variety of second-hand items: clothes, toys, crockery, books, trinkets, and small furniture. Entry is free, and a refreshment stand is available on site.
Bon Repos sur Blavet benefits from a remarkable natural environment. The Nantes-Brest canal runs through the commune, offering walks along the towpath. Lake Guerlédan, the largest artificial lake in Brittany, is in the immediate vicinity. The Bon-Repos Abbey, a historical monument founded in the 12th century on the banks of the Blavet, is a major heritage attraction that draws many visitors.
Formed in 2017 by the merger of the communes of Laniscat, Perret, and Saint-Gelven, Bon Repos sur Blavet has about 1,500 inhabitants spread across a vast rural territory. This new commune has retained the associative dynamic of its former villages, and the car boot sales organized in the various villages are moments of conviviality and meeting between residents.
The presence of the Bon-Repos Abbey, the Salles forges, Lake Guerlédan, and the Nantes-Brest canal make this commune a popular tourist destination in central Brittany. The summer car boot sales benefit from the influx of holidaymakers and hikers staying in the area, broadening the audience beyond just the local residents.
