Parents organize this friendly event to fund the school's educational projects. Individuals offer clothes, toys, books, dishes, and trinkets to bargain hunters from surrounding towns. Free entry, refreshments on site.
The Association des Parents d'Élèves de l'Enseignement Libre (Apel) of the École du Dauphin organizes a car boot sale every spring in Saint-Marcellin. This event is an opportunity for families from the school community to gather in a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere, between flea market stalls and a friendly refreshment stand. Exhibitors, mainly parents and local residents, offer toys, children's and adult clothing, school and leisure books, dishes, trinkets, and small furniture at very attractive prices.
The funds raised from exhibitor registrations and refreshment stand sales are entirely donated to the Apel to finance the educational projects of the École du Dauphin: educational school trips, classroom equipment, shows and artist interventions, cultural and sports activities, and school parties. Volunteer parents ensure the organization and welcome of participants with dynamism and good humor, making this car boot sale a highlight of school life.
A sub-prefecture of Isère, Saint-Marcellin is a town of about 8,000 inhabitants, world-renowned for its namesake cheese, the creamy little Saint-Marcellin that is the pride of Dauphiné tables. The town, crossed by the Isère river and dominated by the Vercors cliffs, is a commercial and administrative center for the surrounding towns in the Isère valley and Royans. Its lively weekly market, its food shops, and its regular car boot sales testify to the dynamism of local life.
The Apel car boot sale is generally held on a Saturday in April. Entry is free for visitors. Take advantage of your visit to Saint-Marcellin to buy the famous cheese from one of the town's cheesemongers and to stroll through the streets of the town center. The monthly car boot sale at the Champ de Mars, held every second Sunday of the month, is another event not to be missed.
