The July 14th Flea Market in Hiersac: A Charentais Institution

Every year on July 14th, the town center and stadium of Hiersac transform into a vast flea market hosting over 300 exhibitors. Organized by the association Pétanque Moulidars-Hiersac, this event has established itself over the years as one of the major flea markets in Charente, attracting bargain hunters and sellers from all over the department and beyond.

A Deployment Across Two Sites: Town Center and Stadium

The event extends across the town center of Hiersac, Place Louis Larrieu, and the communal stadium on Rue du Stade. This dual location offers a generous browsing experience, with access from 11 Rue de Charente or Rue du Stade. Exhibitors can set up from the evening before in the central square, or from 5 am on the morning of July 14th. Registration is done by SMS with the organizers.

Hiersac, a Charentais Village Between Vineyards and Valleys

Hiersac is a rural commune located about fifteen kilometers west of Angoulême, in the Charente valley. This peaceful village, surrounded by vineyards and hedgerows, comes alive especially on Bastille Day thanks to this flea market, which has become a must-attend event. The narrow streets of the town center and the areas around the stadium offer an authentically Charentais setting for summer bargain hunting.

Impressive Logistics

The organization involves about thirty volunteers and as many traffic coordinators to ensure the smooth running of the day. A night security service is provided for exhibitors arriving the day before. The zero-waste operation at the stands demonstrates a commendable environmental commitment. The maxi restaurant and the two refreshment stands allow visitors to eat throughout the day.
