The Téléthon Flea Market: treasure hunting for a good cause on the port of Mortagne

Every May 1st, the port of Mortagne-sur-Gironde hosts the Brocante du Téléthon de l'Estuaire, a solidarity event that combines the pleasure of treasure hunting with charitable commitment. On the Quai des Pêcheurs and around the port, between 50 and 100 exhibitors offer trinkets, antique objects, tableware, books, and curiosities, while an art craft market complements the offerings with original creations.

The port of Mortagne, a jewel facing the estuary

The small port of Mortagne-sur-Gironde, nestled in the hollow of the limestone cliffs overlooking the Gironde estuary, offers a spectacular setting for this flea market. The carrelets, those typical stilt fishing huts of the estuary, dot the shoreline and add to the picturesque nature of the place. The Quai des Pêcheurs, once active for sturgeon and pibale fishing, retains an authentic charm that captivates visitors.

The Téléthon de l'Estuaire, a multi-communal solidarity commitment

The Téléthon de l'Estuaire unites several communes around Mortagne-sur-Gironde: Boutenac-Touvent, Chenac-Saint-Seurin-d'Uzet, and Floirac. This association organizes fundraising events throughout the year for the benefit of AFM-Téléthon, of which the May 1st flea market is the spring highlight. All profits from the event are donated to research against rare diseases and myopathies.

Practical Information

Admission is free for visitors. Exhibitors are welcomed from 7 a.m., and the event continues until 6 p.m. The pitch is charged at 3 euros per linear meter. Parking, catering, and restrooms are available on-site.
