Annual flea market every 1st Sunday of September in front of Saint-Hilaire town hall
Every 1st Sunday of September, the village of Saint-Hilaire (Essonne) comes alive for its annual flea market in front of the town hall on allée des Tilleuls. This event gathers 60 to 100 sellers in a typical Hurepoix village market atmosphere, open from 6am to 6pm.
The century-old lime trees lining the allée des Tilleuls provide welcome shade in early September and create a charming rural setting. Catering and facilities are provided on site, reflecting the serious organisation of this event despite the village's small size.
Saint-Hilaire is a rural commune of around 2,500 inhabitants on the Essonne Hurepoix plateau, between Montlhéry and Dourdan. The open cereal farmland, with its wide horizons and traces of an ancient wine-growing tradition, typifies the Hurepoix countryside. The annual flea market reflects the community spirit that characterises this plateau village.
