La Bussière is a small Poitou commune in the Gartempe valley, near Saint-Savin-sur-Gartempe (whose abbey is UNESCO-listed). With its few hundred inhabitants, the village retains a strong rural identity, and its associative life is a driver of year-round events. The spring brocante is a flagship rendezvous marking the return of fair weather and opening the hunting season in the Gartempe valley.

The 2026 edition — 26 April

The 2026 edition will take place on Sunday 26 April. Organisers welcome exhibitors from 6am for setup. Meal reservations (traditionally served at midday) must be made before 19 April. The event combines brocante, vide-grenier and a shared meal, guaranteeing the village and family atmosphere.

Village atmosphere

La Bussière brocantes attract mainly a local audience, with visitors from Saint-Savin, Pleumartin, Montmorillon, Châtellerault and neighbouring Indre. Exhibitors, mostly private sellers, offer classic vide-grenier, small furniture, crockery, clothes, books, toys, vinyl. Stall numbers vary (in 2025: 150 exhibitors for the July edition at the bathing beach, 80 in August at Aire de la Bertolière).

La Bussière, Gartempe village

The village sits in a remarkable natural setting: the Gartempe, one of Poitou's finest rivers, winds nearby. Hiking paths along the river, proximity to Saint-Savin abbey (10 km), Angles-sur-l'Anglin prehistoric caves and Pleumartin make it a full culture-nature-hunting day.

La Bussière usually holds several events through the year. 2025 saw a summer brocante on 20 July at the bathing beach and another on 31 August at the Bertolière leisure area.
