Annual flea market of the Niherne festival committee, fairground on the banks of the Indre
Each year, the Niherne festival committee organizes a flea market that takes place on the village fairground. Professionals and amateurs offer furniture, trinkets, tableware, old books, postcards, stamps, old papers, toys, and various flea market items. The event attracts bargain hunters from the Châteauroux urban area and surrounding communes, seduced by the diversity of stalls and the tranquility of the place.
Niherne is a commune of about 1,700 inhabitants located about ten kilometers southwest of Châteauroux, in the Indre valley. The village stretches along the river, offering a bucolic setting of flood meadows, poplars, and willows. The fairground, a vast shaded area on the edge of the village, has traditionally hosted fairs, markets, and festive events for generations.
The Niherne flea market is distinguished by its peaceful atmosphere and its green setting by the water. The refreshment stand and light catering allow visitors to extend their morning. Admission is free for visitors.
