The Easter Flea Market of Moutier-d'Ahun: the season's first treasure hunting event

Every Easter Monday, the village of Moutier-d'Ahun kicks off the Creuse flea market season with its traditional Easter flea market. The village streets and the central square transform into a vast flea market where early morning hunters and holiday Monday strollers mingle in a relaxed atmosphere. Exhibitors, welcomed from 6 am, set up their stalls before the public opening at 8 am.

Moutier-d'Ahun, a heritage gem of Creuse

Moutier-d'Ahun owes its fame to its listed historic monument, its abbatial church, whose exceptional 17th-century carved woodwork is one of the artistic treasures of Limousin. These oak stalls and panels, carved by Simon Bauer between 1673 and 1681, represent a unique ensemble of baroque art in a rural setting. The village, nestled in the Creuse valley, also preserves the remains of its former Benedictine monastery and offers remarkable panoramas of the river and the surrounding wooded hills.

An attractive price for exhibitors

Spaces are offered at very affordable prices: 6 euros for 4 meters, 10 euros for 8 meters, 12 euros for 12 meters, and 1 euro per additional meter. This sliding scale pricing encourages broad participation, from individuals clearing out a few boxes to professional dealers presenting a substantial stand. Stalls offer country furniture, crockery, tools, books, clothes, toys, and all sorts of curiosities.

Practical Information

The flea market takes place from 8 am to 6 pm in the village streets. Information is available from the Ahun tourist office or directly from the organizers. The village is accessible from Guéret via the D942, and has free parking on the outskirts of the center. A visit to the abbatial church and its exceptional woodwork is an ideal cultural complement to the flea market day.
