Grand flea market on Ascension Day on rue de la Plaine in Château-Thierry
Every Ascension Thursday, rue de la Plaine in Château-Thierry transforms into a vast flea market. Organized by the Lions Club Vallée de la Marne, this flea market has become an unmissable annual event for bargain hunters in the Marne valley and the south of Aisne. The event attracts exhibitors from all over the region, offering antique furniture, tableware, trinkets, collectibles, and curiosities of all kinds.
Beyond the bargain hunting, this flea market embodies the values of the Lions Club. The profits from the event are donated to local solidarity actions. The organizers ensure a warm welcome for exhibitors, with coffee offered upon their arrival between 5:15 a.m. and 7 a.m. Prior registration is mandatory to participate as an exhibitor.
A sub-prefecture of Aisne, Château-Thierry is famous for being the birthplace of Jean de La Fontaine. Visitors to the flea market can extend their day by visiting the museum dedicated to the fabulist, the ancient medieval castle overlooking the Marne valley, or by strolling through the picturesque streets of this historic town.
