Annual spring car boot sale in this village of the chalky Champagne region
Every April, Mailly-le-Camp, a commune in the Aube department nestled in the great Champagne plain between Troyes and Châlons-en-Champagne, hosts its annual car boot sale. This outdoor event, rooted in the tradition of village flea markets, attracts bargain hunters from the area in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
The Mailly-le-Camp car boot sale brings together private sellers who come to clear out their attics and offer their items to new owners. Stalls are piled high with clothes for the whole family, good-condition toys and board games, second-hand books and comics, crockery and glassware, small decorative items, trinkets, and various souvenirs. Free entry for visitors and the low prices charged by sellers make this day an accessible bargain hunting experience for everyone, parents and children alike.
Mailly-le-Camp is a commune in the Aube department famous for its military camp, one of the largest in France, used since the 19th century and still active today for French army exercises. This chalky Champagne territory, characterized by its vast expanses of light agricultural land and immense skies, is home to this village that combines military tradition and rural Champagne life. In April, the surrounding countryside begins to turn green again, offering an airy and bright setting for the car boot sale.
The Mailly-le-Camp car boot sale is a moment of gathering for the inhabitants of the village and surrounding communes of the Champagne plain. In this vast and sparsely populated area, festive events are precious for maintaining the social fabric and welcoming visitors. The car boot sale thus provides an opportunity to liven up the village, meet neighbors, and share a moment of spring good humor in the great tradition of Champagne flea markets.
