Spring flea market in Cluis, former fortified town of Boischaut Sud
The Brocante de Cluis is held every spring in this former fortified town of Boischaut Sud, between La Châtre and Argenton-sur-Creuse. Exhibitors offer antique objects, trinkets, and finds in the streets of this characterful village dominated by the ruins of its castle.
The town of Cluis (36340) hosts its annual flea market every spring in its streets and squares. Exhibitors – dealers and individuals – offer furniture, tableware, trinkets, books, tools, toys, linens, and various second-hand items. The event brings together bargain hunters from Boischaut Sud and surrounding towns in a friendly, rural flea market atmosphere.
Cluis is a commune of about 1,000 inhabitants located between La Châtre and Neuvy-Saint-Sépulchre, in the heart of Boischaut Sud. The village is dominated by the imposing ruins of its castle, a medieval fortress that controlled the route between Berry and Marche. The keep and the remains of the ramparts stand on a rocky outcrop offering an extensive panorama of the surrounding countryside. The town retains an interesting church and old houses. The surrounding countryside, with its hedged meadows, hedges, and small ponds, embodies the Berrichon landscape that George Sand described in her novels.
The Cluis flea market benefits from the picturesque setting of this hilltop village. Admission is free and the family-friendly atmosphere invites leisurely browsing. Visitors can complement their day with a visit to the castle ruins or a walk in the Boischaut countryside.
The Brocante de Cluis returns on May 2, 2026, in the village streets. Free admission.
