Summer flea market in Chaillac, a village in the south of Indre known for its baryte mine
The Brocante de Chaillac is held every year in June in this village in the south of Indre, known for its former baryte and fluorite mining site. Exhibitors offer antique objects, trinkets, and finds in the village streets, in the heart of a preserved Berrichon bocage landscape.
Every June, the village of Chaillac (36310) hosts its annual flea market. Exhibitors – professional dealers and private individuals – set up in the village streets and square to offer furniture, tableware, trinkets, antique tools, books, toys, clothing, and various objects. The atmosphere is that of an authentic country flea market, where people take their time to browse and chat in a green and tranquil setting.
Chaillac is a commune of about 1,000 inhabitants located in the southwest of the Indre department, on the border of Berry and Limousin. The village is known for its former mining site of baryte and fluorite, exploited until the end of the 20th century, which today constitutes a unique industrial heritage. The commune also houses a national nature reserve (la Chênaie du Clos de la Rode) which protects remarkable flora, including several rare species linked to the mineralized subsoil. The bocage landscape, oak forests, and small valleys offer a preserved natural setting.
The Chaillac flea market charms with its intimate format and bucolic setting. Entry is free, and the day can be extended with a walk in the surrounding countryside or a visit to the village's mining heritage.
The Brocante de Chaillac returns on June 14, 2026, in the village streets. Free entry.
