Every September or October, Gallardon organizes its annual flea market and car boot sale. Individuals and dealers gather at Place de la Gare for a day of popular sales in this town with preserved medieval charm. Trinkets, clothes, furniture, books, and objects of all kinds are displayed on the sidewalks and in adjacent streets, attracting bargain hunters from all over the Chartres region.

Gallardon, the village with the leaning keep

Gallardon is a commune of about 3,500 inhabitants nestled in the plain of Beauce chartraine, about twenty kilometers northeast of Chartres. It is famous for 'l'Épaulière', a fragment of a 12th-century leaning keep which is one of the most original symbols of the medieval heritage of Eure-et-Loir. This precariously balanced ruin overlooks the town and gives it an immediately recognizable silhouette in the Beauce plain.

The village also retains a beautiful Gothic collegiate church, half-timbered houses, and the remains of its medieval fortifications. The Aunay stream flows through the town, adding to its gentle way of life. Gallardon is also known for having been one of the transit points of the Roman road connecting Chartres to Paris.

An event rooted in local associative life
