Annual flea market by the Comité des Fêtes at the Salle des Fêtes d'Aumagne
Every summer, the small village of Aumagne, in the heart of Saintonge, hosts its annual flea market organized by the Comité des Fêtes. Held at the Salle des Fêtes and the adjacent leisure area, rue des Loisirs, this event brings together between 50 and 100 exhibitors, both individuals and professionals, in a festive and relaxed atmosphere.
With a rate of 1.50 euros per linear meter, the Aumagne flea market offers one of the lowest prices in Charente-Maritime for exhibitors. This attractive pricing policy encourages a wide diversity of sellers and goods: rustic furniture, country tableware, old tools, trinkets, books, toys, clothing, and decorative items make up a varied offering that delights treasure hunters.
Aumagne is a small rural commune located between Saint-Jean-d'Angély and Saintes, in the Saintonge hinterland. The village, crossed by peaceful country lanes lined with hedges and cereal fields, retains a preserved rural heritage. The proximity of Saint-Jean-d'Angély, a medieval town listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site on the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route, enriches the tourist offering of this discreet but endearing area.
Beyond the flea market, the Comité des Fêtes offers a program of entertainment that makes this event unique: vintage car exhibition, decorated truck parade, country dancing demonstrations, and American football. This touch of Americana, unexpected in the Saintonge countryside, gives the Aumagne flea market a unique and festive character. On-site catering and refreshments complete this family day that attracts visitors from well beyond the canton.
