Professional flea market of ABALA, Place du Mûrier, Batz-sur-Mer — three annual editions
The ABALA flea market takes over the Place du Mûrier in Batz-sur-Mer three times a year: in May, July, and August. Reserved for professional exhibitors, this quality event attracts lovers of antiques and flea market finds from the Guérande peninsula and surrounding areas. The Place du Mûrier, in the heart of the village, offers a charming setting for these gatherings that punctuate the local tourist season.
ABALA (Association Batzienne des Amis de la Libre Antiquité, or equivalent) offers an original formula with three annual editions of its flea market on the Place du Mûrier, in the heart of Batz-sur-Mer village. In May for spring, and in July and August for the peak summer season, these professional flea markets are highly appreciated by collectors and lovers of antique objects.
The Place du Mûrier occupies a central position in the village of Batz-sur-Mer, a seaside commune on the Guérande peninsula. This lively public space, lined with shops and services, transforms during the flea markets into a treasure market where professionals display their finest pieces. The proximity to the Saint-Guénolé church and its bell tower, one of the tallest in Loire-Atlantique, gives this location undeniable architectural charm.
Unlike car boot sales open to individuals, the ABALA flea market is exclusively reserved for professional exhibitors. Antique dealers, licensed second-hand dealers, and art merchants present selected, authenticated, and properly appraised items. This requirement for professionalism guarantees visitors a quality offering: antique furniture, earthenware, silverware, clocks, tableware, paintings, prints, antique toys, and various curiosities.
The May edition welcomes a local audience and early-season tourists, eager for beautiful finds before the summer rush. July and August, during the height of the tourist season, see a larger and more cosmopolitan clientele, attracted by the quality reputation of the ABALA flea market and the incomparable charm of Batz-sur-Mer in summer. The village, with its white streets enlivened by salt merchants and buckwheat crepes, is a destination in itself on the peninsula.
Nestled between the salt marshes of the Brière Regional Natural Park and the Atlantic, Batz-sur-Mer is one of the most picturesque communes on the Loire coast. Its Valentin beach, rocky coves, and listed dunes attract thousands of visitors each summer. The ABALA flea market is part of the cultural and event richness of this commune, which skillfully blends traditions (salt, fishing, lace) with modern tourism.
The ABALA flea market returns in 2026 with three editions on the Place du Mûrier in Batz-sur-Mer: May, July, and August. Professional exhibitors, free entry.
