The Braderie of Avenue Maréchal de Saxe: a Lyon tradition

From Wednesday 10 to Saturday 13 June 2026, Avenue Maréchal de Saxe in Lyon's 6th arrondissement hosts its annual grande braderie. For four days, one of the left bank's busiest commercial streets becomes a vast open-air market where local traders offloading unsold stock meet private sellers clearing out their attics. The atmosphere is festive, relaxed and typically Lyonnais.

The 6th arrondissement: between elegance and friendliness

Lyon's 6th arrondissement is one of the city's most residential and commercial districts. Bordered by the Parc de la Tête d'Or to the north and the Cours Franklin Roosevelt, it is home to a mixed population of families, professionals and retirees. Avenue Maréchal de Saxe, a straight and well-served artery, is the heart of this neighbourhood. During the braderie, it takes on the air of a great popular celebration where all of the 6th gathers in high spirits.
