Antique and collectible tools, multi-collection flea market in Montécheroux, April 6, 2026
Every Easter Monday, Montécheroux hosts its Tool Fair, a unique event in the Doubs region for lovers of antique tools, flea market finds, and collectibles. Along the Grande Rue, exhibitors display old trade tools, farm objects, collectible items, and curiosities in this hilltop village in the south of the department. A rare and authentic event.
Montécheroux, a small hilltop village on the southern edge of the Doubs department, bordering the Territoire de Belfort and just a few kilometers from Switzerland, hosts a rare and unique event every Easter Monday: the Bourse aux Outils (Tool Fair). Along the Grande Rue, in the heart of this characterful village, exhibitors and collectors gather to offer and find antique tools from traditional crafts, agricultural instruments, collectible hardware, and all sorts of mechanical and manual items that bear witness to the region's industrial and rural heritage.
The tools offered at this fair cover a wide range of trades and uses: carpentry and framing tools, cooperage and woodcraft tools, farriery and blacksmithing instruments, agricultural and vineyard tools, antique hardware, locks and keys, watchmaking mechanisms—a tradition from nearby Montbéliard—and many other specialties that reflect the artisanal and industrial richness of Franche-Comté.
Montécheroux is one of those discreet but historically rich rural communes that dot the rugged landscape of the southern Doubs. Perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the surrounding valleys, the village offers remarkable panoramas of the Jura foothills and, on clear days, of the Vosges mountains and the Alps. The Grande Rue, the main thoroughfare of the village, provides a picturesque and authentic setting for this tool fair, which is part of the tradition of Franche-Comté Easter fairs.
The event opens its doors at 8 a.m., in line with the custom of rural fairs and markets where enthusiasts like to arrive at dawn to have the widest choice. Whether you are a collector of antique tools, a general flea market enthusiast, or simply curious, the Bourse aux Outils de Montécheroux is worth a visit in this preserved corner of the Doubs department.
The Bourse aux Outils de Montécheroux is held on Monday, April 6, 2026 (Easter Monday), on Grande Rue, starting at 8 a.m. Antique tools, agricultural instruments, flea market finds, and multi-collections in this hilltop village in the southern Doubs. Free entry.
