Annual flea market organized by the local football club at Ernest Vilgrain Stadium in Bourron-Marlotte
Every year in June, the Bourron-Marlotte football club organizes its major flea market and garage sale at Ernest Vilgrain Stadium. This event has become a must-attend rendezvous of local life, blending the spirit of sports associations with the passion of bargain hunting. The proceeds generated by stand rentals and the club's refreshment stand help fund the club's activities, equipment maintenance, and the operation of youth teams. It is therefore both a festive and supportive event that mobilizes the entire local ecosystem around a collective project.
The organization of this flea market relies on the volunteers of the Bourron-Marlotte football club: managers, parents of players, club veterans, and supporters. This community involvement gives the event a particularly warm and friendly atmosphere. Visitors are welcomed with a smile, can enjoy a refreshment stand and on-site catering, and support, by their mere presence, the future of a village club. Individuals and occasional exhibitors offer a wide variety of items: clothing, toys, books, vinyl records, dishware, small furniture, sports equipment, games, and various trinkets.
Bourron-Marlotte is one of the most renowned villages in southern Seine-et-Marne, famous for having welcomed, from the second half of the 19th century, many painters seeking inspiration in the nearby Fontainebleau forest. Renoir, Sisley, Pissarro, Cézanne, and many other artists stayed in its inns and immortalized its landscapes. This exceptional artistic past has left a strong imprint on the village, which still retains its bohemian charm today with its artists' villas, peaceful streets, and preserved forest environment. It is also a popular location for filming, earning it the nickname « village du cinéma ».
The Ernest Vilgrain Stadium, where the flea market takes place, bears the name of a notable village figure. It is the main venue of the football club, which trains and hosts its opponents there throughout the season. The setting, immediately adjacent to the Fontainebleau forest, makes it a particularly pleasant ground, and its layout allows for the comfortable hosting of exhibitors and visitors during the annual flea market.
A visit to the football flea market can easily be extended by discovering Bourron-Marlotte and its treasures: the Château de Bourron, a private property but visible from the gate, the old church, the municipal museum of painters, the former artists' inns, and of course the Fontainebleau forest trails that begin at the village gates. For heritage and nature lovers, it is the ideal opportunity to combine morning bargain hunting, lunch in the village, and an afternoon forest walk.
