The friendly car boot sale on Chemin de la Bouillotte in Plélan-le-Grand, in the heart of Brocéliande country
The Bouillotte Car Boot Sale was initiated by the residents of the Plélan-le-Grand neighbourhood. Every year in June, local people set up their stalls along the Chemin de la Bouillotte, at the place called La Croix des Champs. From 8 am to 5 pm, visitors browse the stalls in search of clothes, toys, books, crockery, and everyday items. The atmosphere is resolutely village-like and relaxed, far from the hustle and bustle of large urban street sales.
This car boot sale embodies the spirit of neighbourliness and solidarity that animates the neighbourhoods of Plélan-le-Grand. The residents of Chemin de la Bouillotte come together to share a friendly moment around their stalls. On-site catering – cold drinks, galettes, and crêpes – allows for extended conversations. The human-scale event offers an authentic treasure-hunting experience where the pleasure of meeting people is as important as the find.
A commune of 4,000 inhabitants located 35 kilometres west of Rennes, Plélan-le-Grand is the gateway to the Pays de Brocéliande. The legendary forest, its lakes, its hiking trails, and its Arthurian sites attract thousands of visitors each year. The town has a dynamic commercial and associative life. The Chemin de la Bouillotte car boot sale contributes to this local animation, in a typical rural setting of the Breton bocage.
From Rennes, take the D177 then the D38 towards Plélan-le-Grand (35 km). On-site parking.
