The oldest fair in France, founded in 1219 — 600 exhibitors over 10 hectares
The Beaucroissant Spring Fair is one of the oldest fairs in France, with origins dating back to 1219. Every year in April, around 600 exhibitors occupy 10 hectares of exhibition space and 10 kilometers of aisles to welcome nearly 100,000 visitors over two days. Agriculture, crafts, gastronomy, animals, agricultural equipment, and flea market items are all present at this historic fair in the Voironnais region, organized by the Beaucroissant Town Hall.
The origins of the Beaucroissant Fair date back to 1219, a year of a catastrophe that marked the history of the Dauphiné region. On September 14, 1219, a violent flood caused by the rupture of a natural dam in the Gorges de l'Infernet devastated Grenoble, killing thousands. Hundreds of survivors found refuge on the heights of what would become Beaucroissant. The annual pilgrimage that followed attracted merchants and traders, giving birth to this historic fair.
The Spring Fair today brings together around 600 exhibitors spread over 10 hectares of exhibition space, with over 10 kilometers of aisles to explore. You can find everything: agricultural equipment, machinery, farm and companion animals, local crafts, regional products, tools, gardening supplies, and a significant flea market and antiques section. The 55th edition in its current format will be held in April 2026.
Organized by the Beaucroissant Town Hall, the fair attracts nearly 100,000 visitors each year from across the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The fairground, a vast area on the outskirts of the village between Voiron and Rives, is perfectly equipped to host this large-scale event. Food, entertainment, and shows complete the program for this festive weekend.
