The Annual Car Boot Sale of the Coudray Festival Committee

Every June, the Coudray Festival Committee organizes its annual car boot sale in the commune of Le Malesherbois. This popular event, true to the tradition of summer festivals in the villages of the Gâtinais, brings together exhibitors and visitors for a day of bargain hunting and conviviality.

Le Malesherbois, a New Commune in the Gâtinais

Le Malesherbois is a new commune created in 2016 by the merger of several villages including Malesherbes, Buthiers, Labrosse, Noyers-sur-Cher, Guignonville, and Coudray. This grouping has given birth to a dynamic communal entity of approximately 8,000 inhabitants, in the heart of the southern Gâtinais, at the gates of Île-de-France and the Loire Valley. The Coudray sector, a rural village with limestone houses and plain landscapes, retains its own identity within this new commune.

A Neighborhood Car Boot Sale on a Gâtinais Scale

Organized by the Coudray Festival Committee, this car boot sale brings together exhibitors from the commune and surrounding areas. Conviviality is at the heart of the event: exhibitors set up their stalls from the morning, visitors wander from one to another in search of unexpected finds. Clothing, toys, books, trinkets, crockery, and furniture make up the bulk of the goods offered.

A Day of Summer Sharing

Beyond a simple flea market, the car boot sale of the Coudray Festival Committee is an opportunity for neighbors to reunite and for inhabitants of the different districts of Le Malesherbois to meet. The refreshment stand and catering provided by volunteers add to the warmth of the day. Entry is free for all visitors, who flock from Malesherbes and surrounding communes.

Practical Information

The car boot sale takes place in the Coudray sector of Le Malesherbois, generally in June. Exhibitors set up from 5:30 am for an opening to visitors at 7 am. The event continues until the late afternoon. Information is available from the Coudray Festival Committee.
