The great spring brocante in the heart of Savigny-sur-Orge town centre
Savigny-sur-Orge is an Essonne (91) commune of around 37,000 inhabitants, located some 20 kilometres south of Paris in the greater Paris suburbs. Served by RER C, it offers a direct link to the capital in under 30 minutes. The town straddles the left bank of the Orge river, which gives the valley its name and flows into the Seine at Athis-Mons.
The town centre, centred on Boulevard Aristide Briand, hosts shops, civic facilities and a vibrant associative life. Each spring this busy boulevard becomes the stage for the municipal Annual Brocante: the road is closed to traffic, sellers set up along the widened pavements, and for a few hours the boulevard takes on the feel of a large-scale village market.
The Annual Brocante is run by the Town Hall (savigny.org), which ensures a safe framework, clear signage and good traffic management. Around 30 private sellers take part, offering second-hand objects, knick-knacks, furniture, clothes and books. The pitch fee is €24 for 3 metres, making it accessible to amateur sellers. Free entry draws families, casual passers-by and seasoned bargain hunters alike.
Savigny-sur-Orge has a rich network of sports, cultural and solidarity associations. Community events like the spring brocante play a unifying role, bringing together residents of all ages. The Orge valley, stretching from Brétigny-sur-Orge to Athis-Mons, offers pleasant riverside walks close to the town.

The Annual Brocante of Savigny-sur-Orge once again animated Boulevard Aristide Briand on Sunday 12 April 2026. Traffic-free town centre, around thirty private sellers spread over several hundred metres, free entry: the tried-and-tested formula once again won over bargain hunters and residents from across Essonne. Knick-knacks, furniture, clothes, books and second-hand items changed hands on this fine spring Sunday, steps from the town's shops and the banks of the Orge.
The municipal event, organised annually by the Town Hall (savigny.org), confirms its role as a unifying fixture for Sagicordiens and visitors from neighbouring Orge valley communes.
