Pentecost 2026: 12 huge French flea markets to dig through this weekend

By Christophe Contard — Éditeur web indépendant

L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Krautergersheim, Wazemmes, Vernon, Mirepoix, Alphonse Guérin: 12 essential French flea markets for Pentecost weekend 2026.

Pentecost is probably the busiest flea market weekend of the year in France. Several thousand car boot sales, fairs and antiques markets are announced from Friday May 22 to Monday May 25, 2026, taking advantage of the long weekend and the bank holiday Monday. Out of that mass, here are 12 monumental gatherings that best sum up flea market France: the European capital of antiques at L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, 2 km of stalls in Krautergersheim, 600 sellers in central Rennes, the medieval city of Mirepoix turned open-air market, the 150th edition of Vicq-sur-Nahon. One per region, almost. Our pick this week: the L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue Grand May Antiques Market, which turns Europe's third antiques capital into a giant stalls alley on May 23 and 24.

L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue Grand May Antiques Market (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur)

On May 23 and 24, the L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue Grand May Antiques Market takes over the avenue des 4 Otages and the surrounding districts of this Vaucluse town, nicknamed Europe's third antiques capital after London and Saint-Ouen. Private sellers and dealers share the city: hundreds of stalls, furniture, decorative items, antique textile, paintings and thousands of curiosities along the Sorgue canals and their waterwheels. One of the season's most closely followed gatherings, drawing flea market enthusiasts from across Europe.

Krautergersheim Flea Market, 2 km of stalls in Alsace (Grand Est)

On Sunday May 24, the Krautergersheim Flea Market — De Kruterischer Grembel Marik — deploys more than 2 kilometres of stalls in the streets of this Bas-Rhin village, the Alsatian capital of sauerkraut. Rue des Primevères, rue des Muguets, rue des Violettes, rue des Peupliers, rue du Stade: visitors walk for several hours to cover it all. One of the largest spring flea market gatherings in Alsace, with free entry and on-site catering. Pair it with a visit to the village's craft sauerkraut producers.

Alphonse Guérin Flea Market in Rennes, 600 sellers in the city (Brittany)

On Sunday May 24, the Alphonse Guérin Flea Market brings together more than 600 private sellers in the streets of the Alphonse Guérin neighbourhood, around rue Bertrand Robidou in Rennes. Organised by the neighbourhood association, it is reserved for private sellers — a guarantee of affordable prices and a family atmosphere. One of the largest neighbourhood flea markets in the Breton capital, close to the city centre. Thousands of buyers cross paths there each year in a relaxed mood. Parking and catering on site.

Vernon Cherry Fair, four days of Normandy tradition (Normandy)

From May 22 to 25, the Vernon Cherry Fair takes over the pedestrian zone of this Eure town's city centre to celebrate the emblematic fruit of the Normandy spring. Producers' market and craft, flea market, animations, concerts and entertainment fair fill this popular weekend a stone's throw from Giverny and Claude Monet's gardens. A centuries-old tradition in the Seine valley, this fair retains its village character while drawing visitors from across Île-de-France and the Rouen area.

Wazemmes Braderie in Lille, 400 stalls in the cosmopolitan district (Hauts-de-France)

On Saturday May 23, the Wazemmes Braderie gathers around 400 sellers in the streets of this popular, cosmopolitan district of Lille, southwest of the city centre. Wazins Wazines, the organising neighbourhood association, deploys the stalls along rue de Wazemmes, rue de la Justice, rue d'Artois, rue Chevreul and rue Bourignon. Combine with a visit to the Wazemmes market, the Tri Postal and the neighbourhood's restaurants — one of the liveliest in Lille. The most emblematic neighbourhood braderie of the Lille metropolis.

Pentecost Flea Market at Quincy-Voisins, château grounds in Brie (Île-de-France)

On Sunday May 24, the Pentecost Flea Market at Quincy-Voisins takes over the château grounds of this Seine-et-Marne village east of Paris. The setting is exceptional: centuries-old trees, stone façades, gravel paths. Several hundred private sellers and dealers display antique furniture, knickknacks, dinnerware and decorative items. One of the spring's most awaited gatherings in Brie, with a timeless atmosphere that contrasts with the big urban braderies.

Mirepoix Pentecost Fair, medieval bastide in Ariège (Occitanie)

On May 24 and 25, the Mirepoix Pentecost Fair takes place on Place des Couverts, a central square framed by medieval arcaded houses unique in France. Over 50 sellers — antique dealers, second-hand sellers and individuals — deploy their stalls in the incomparable setting of this 13th-century Ariège bastide. Stone, carved wood, painted beams: the scenography is striking. An intimate fair of rare quality, to combine with the neighbouring Cathar bastides.

150th Vicq-sur-Nahon Antiques Fair, a longevity record (Centre-Val de Loire)

On Sunday May 24, the 150th Vicq-sur-Nahon Antiques Fair celebrates exceptional longevity in this Valençay-area village in the Indre. Around 80 sellers take over the village centre with furniture, knickknacks and antique items in a festive atmosphere, with entertainment and tombola. Pitches are free — a rare thing for a fair of this scale. 150 editions at the same time of year: few French flea market events can claim such local anchoring. A genuine time travel experience.

Champéon Grand Flea Market, 450 stalls in rural Mayenne (Pays de la Loire)

On Sunday May 24, the Champéon Comité des Fêtes Flea Market gathers nearly 450 sellers in this rural northern Mayenne village. An impressive size for a small village, made possible by the meticulous organisation of the Comité des Fêtes and decades of volunteer commitment. One of the great spring flea markets in Pays de la Loire, halfway between Laval and Domfront. Bocage countryside, Norman cows, and stalls as far as the eye can see.

Spring Flea Market at Fort Saint-André in Salins-les-Bains (Bourgogne-Franche-Comté)

On Sunday May 24, the Spring Flea Market at Fort Saint-André opens the gates of this Vauban fortress overlooking the spa town of Salins-les-Bains, in the Jura. From 7 am to 5 pm, buyers and sellers wander the fort's alleys between bastions, ramparts and panoramas over the valley. The setting is rare: it's hard to find a French flea market in such a spectacular historical military site. A tombola with attractive prizes rounds out the day. Modest pitch fee (€3/m) and great local anchoring.

Crozant Flea Market, at the foot of the medieval fortress (Nouvelle-Aquitaine)

On Sunday May 24, the Crozant Flea Market unfolds in the main street of this historic Creuse town, crowned by the ruins of its medieval fortress listed as a historical monument. Around 200 private sellers and dealers settle at the foot of the castle, at the confluence of the Creuse and Sédelle rivers. Crozant inspired Impressionist painters Armand Guillaumin and Claude Monet in the late 19th century — the site remains one of the most photogenic in the Valley of the Painters. Pair with a visit to the ruins.

Farfouille d'Ambérieux-en-Dombes, 40 years of flea market in the Ain (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes)

On Sunday May 24, the Farfouille d'Ambérieux-en-Dombes gathers between 100 and 200 sellers in the centre of this Ain village, in the heart of the Dombes lake region. Organised by the Sou des Écoles for nearly 40 years, it is one of the great flea markets in southern Burgundy and the Dombes. Affordable rate (€4 per metre), coffee offered to sellers, classic bar service: pure French associative tradition. And the Dombes is worth the detour for its migratory birds and its lake-fish farming heritage unique in France.
