My pick of the week is the Ornans Summer Professional Flea Market, two days of high-end hunting on Place Gustave-Courbet. Eleven events round out the weekend, from a fifty-year-old fair in the Territoire de Belfort to rural car boot sales in the Jura and Saone-et-Loire.
Ornans Summer Professional Flea Market (Doubs, Saturday July 18 and Sunday July 19)
On Place Gustave-Courbet, right in the center of Ornans, one of the most anticipated flea-market events in the Doubs runs over two full days. About fifty professional antique dealers set up a high-end selection: period furniture, lighting, decorative objects and collectibles.
Run by the town of Ornans, this summer fair has a reputation for a rarer level of quality than a typical town-center event. This is no generic bric-a-brac.
Two full days let you come back on Sunday to grab what you spotted the day before, an option rarely available in the region. The Ornans Summer Flea Market sets up Saturday and Sunday.
Othentic! The Old-Fashioned Flea Market of Prunoy en Fete (Yonne, Sunday July 19)
At the Chateau de Prunoy, in Charny-Oree-de-Puisaye, the Prunoy en Fete association runs Othentic!, a flea market with an unusual rulebook. No plastic, no modern synthetic clothing: genuinely old objects only. The concept forces real discipline on sellers and guarantees visitors a hunt free of filler.

Unlike monthly or annual events, this village runs every weekend from 10:30am to 5:30pm. A themed covered market, refreshed every week, completes the offer.

The Colibri Market in Rouy (Nievre, Sunday July 19)
In the village center of Rouy, the La Part du Colibri association has run its monthly market since 2008. It's affiliated with the Colibris movement founded by Pierre Rabhi. Every third Sunday of the month from March to December, organic producers, local artisans and makers gather around values of environmental respect and community ties.
This isn't a classic flea market. It's one that blends objects, crafts and local produce in a committed spirit, far from the big commercial fairs. Entertainment and conviviality round out the morning. The Colibri Market of Rouy brings together producers and artisans on Sunday.
Summer Saturday Flea Market in Noyers-sur-Serein (Yonne, Saturday July 18)
Listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, Noyers-sur-Serein sets up its Summer Saturday flea market every Saturday in July and August. Around twenty exhibitors lay out their stalls in the medieval village center, between 14th-century ramparts, defensive towers and art galleries.

This edition brings together 130 stalls across more than 1,000 linear meters, from 6am to 7pm, at 2 euros per linear meter.

Beaune's Market Flea Market (Cote-d'Or, Saturday July 18)
Every Saturday morning, on Place Carnot, a stone's throw from the Hotel-Dieu, Burgundy's wine capital hosts its weekly flea market reserved for professionals. Fewer than fifty specialized exhibitors offer antiques, furniture, design pieces, vintage items, trinkets, militaria, period pieces and collectibles. The market runs from 9am to 12:30pm, free entry.

The 40th Bellechaume Leisure Club Jumble Sale (Yonne, Sunday July 19)
For 40 years, the Bellechaume Leisure Club has run its annual jumble sale in this plateau village between Brienon-sur-Armancon and Joigny. With around 200 exhibitors, it's one of the most popular events in the area, a true institution of the Yonne countryside.

The ACCA Reithouse Car Boot Sale (Jura, Sunday July 19)
Every summer, the Approved Communal Hunting Association of Reithouse, a small village in the Jura Lakes area, runs its annual car boot sale. About 75 exhibitors are welcomed from 6am with a free coffee, in a family atmosphere kept up by volunteers: refreshments, light catering, free pitches.
The event goes ahead even in bad weather, a sign of solid local roots. It's the easygoing, no-frills format typical of Jura's community car boot sales. The ACCA Reithouse Car Boot Sale welcomes its 75 exhibitors from dawn on Sunday.
The Genelard Flea Market (Saone-et-Loire, Sunday July 19)
