Major village festival flea market with over 300 vendors along 2 km of streets in the Alsatian Grand Ried
The Westhouse Flea Market is one of the largest bargain-hunting events in Bas-Rhin. Held every year at the end of June as part of the village festival, it brings together more than 300 vendors along nearly 2 kilometers of decorated streets. Private sellers and dealers come from all over Alsace and neighboring Germany to find antique furniture, tableware, books, toys and vintage items. Traditional Alsatian food is served on site, including tarte flambee, pretzels, merguez sausages and homemade pastries.
The Westhouse Flea Market is undeniably one of the largest bargain-hunting events in the Bas-Rhin department. Every year at the end of June, the village, nestled in the heart of the Alsatian Grand Ried between Strasbourg and Selestat, dresses up to welcome thousands of visitors. More than 300 vendors set up along nearly 2 kilometers of the village's main streets, transforming Westhouse into a vast open-air treasure trove.
Organized by ES Westhouse and the municipality, this flea market celebrates its 33rd edition in 2026. Since its creation, the event has continued to grow in reputation and now attracts professional dealers, experienced collectors and families looking for good deals. The setting is exceptional: the typical half-timbered houses of the Alsace plain form an authentic backdrop that adds undeniable charm to the stroll. Antique furniture, Sarreguemines faience tableware, second-hand books, comics, vinyls, old toys, postcards, militaria and curiosities — everyone finds what they are looking for among the thousands of items on offer.
Beyond the commercial dimension, the Westhouse flea market is above all a popular festival. Throughout the day, traditional Alsatian food takes center stage: tarte flambee (flammekueche) baked in a wood-fired oven from 5pm, pretzels fresh from the oven, grilled merguez sausages, homemade fries, pastries and local beer. Musical entertainment and the warm atmosphere typical of Bas-Rhin village festivals punctuate this day of bargain-hunting, which traditionally ends with a friendly shared dinner.
Westhouse is a rural commune of around 1,700 inhabitants located in the Bas-Rhin, halfway between Strasbourg and Colmar, at the foot of the Alsatian vineyard and the Vosges mountains. The village is part of the Grand Ried, a vast alluvial plain shaped by the branches of the Ill river. Its Saint-Barthelemy church and traditional half-timbered houses make it a typical village of central Alsace. The village festival, of which the flea market is the highlight, is the unmissable event of the year for the inhabitants and a major event on the regional bargain-hunting calendar.
