Vide ta chambre of the Association des Parents d'Élèves — Saint-Sulpice, Célé valley
The Association des Parents d'Élèves (APE) of the Saint-Sulpice school organizes its specialized children's car boot sale every year, the famous “Vide ta chambre”. This event is an opportunity for families from the village and surrounding areas to meet and exchange clothes, toys, children's books, and childcare equipment in a spirit of solidarity and circular economy. The profits from the sale of pitches contribute to the financing of school activities and outings for the students of the school.
Saint-Sulpice is one of the most remarkable villages in the Célé valley, in the Lot. Nestled against a limestone cliff at an altitude of 180 meters, the village is built in successive terraces overlooking the Célé river, in the Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park. 28 kilometers from Figeac and 48 kilometers from Cahors, Saint-Sulpice is a village of 142 inhabitants that fascinates visitors with its partial troglodytic architecture and its picturesque character. The Route du Célé, a renowned tourist route, passes through this village classified among the most beautiful sites in the valley.
The APE of Saint-Sulpice's “Vide ta chambre” follows the well-established tradition of sales organized by parent-teacher associations in the villages of the Lot. The event is open to all: families from the village and neighboring municipalities can offer items for children — clothing of all sizes, shoes, toys, illustrated books, board games, strollers, car seats, and other childcare equipment. Buyers can find bargains at low prices to equip their children or refresh their wardrobe.
In addition to promoting the exchange of items between families, this event plays an essential role in the life of the Saint-Sulpice school. The funds collected from the registration fees of exhibitors and any additional sales allow the APE to finance school trips, shows, educational materials, and all the activities that enrich the lives of students in the rural school. In a small village, the school is an essential place of community life, and the APE plays a unifying role.
Saint-Sulpice is accessible from Figeac via the D41 along the Célé, and from Cahors via the D662 then the D127. The tourist route of the Célé passes through the village. Entry to the car boot sale is free for visitors. Parking should be planned at the entrances to the village.
