Spring Car Boot Sale — Place de la Halle, Prudhomat, Dordogne Valley
Every spring, Prudhomat hosts its large car boot sale on the Place de la Halle in this medieval village overlooking the Dordogne Valley. Around 75 private and professional exhibitors gather for a day of treasure hunting in an exceptional setting, just a stone's throw from the Château de Castelnau-Bretenoux. Refreshments and food available on-site for a full family day out.
Prudhomat is a medieval village in the north of the Lot, famous for housing one of the most beautiful fortified castles in Quercy: the Château de Castelnau-Bretenoux, a classified historic monument. It is in this exceptional setting that the village's car boot sale is held every spring, bringing together around 75 exhibitors on the Place de la Halle.
The vitality of this event stems from the diversity and number of its exhibitors. With about sixty-ten tables and stalls arranged in the square and adjacent streets, the Prudhomat car boot sale offers a rich and varied treasure hunting experience. Countryside furniture, antique objects, trinkets, books, vintage clothing, and various curiosities are all available, much to the delight of bargain hunters.
Prudhomat benefits from a remarkable geographical location, at the confluence of the Cère and Dordogne rivers, with the imposing silhouette of the red towers of the Château de Castelnau-Bretenoux as a backdrop. The car boot sale is also an opportunity to visit this medieval fortress, one of the largest in southwestern France, which overlooks the village from its limestone promontory.
The organization is handled by local volunteers who ensure the welcome of exhibitors and the smooth running of the day. A refreshment stand and catering service are provided so that everyone can fully enjoy the event. Entry is free for all visitors. Parking is available near the square.
Like many car boot sales in the north of the Lot, Prudhomat's is part of a long tradition of local fairs and markets. These events are a strong social link for the inhabitants of the surrounding villages and hamlets, and attract visitors from all over the region each year.
The Prudhomat spring car boot sale returns in 2026 to the Place de la Halle. Around 75 exhibitors, free entry, refreshments and food on-site. Exceptional setting at the foot of the Château de Castelnau-Bretenoux.
