Car boot sale of August 14th in the village center and lower village of Anglards-de-Salers, in the Pays de Salers
Every August 14th, on the eve of the Assumption, the village of Anglards-de-Salers (15380) hosts its traditional car boot sale. The event, organized by the Association des Commerçants d'Anglards-de-Salers, takes over the village center and the lower village. Exhibitors, mainly individuals, set up their stalls from 7 am along the village streets and squares, offering bargain hunters a wide choice of second-hand items.
Anglards-de-Salers is a rural commune in the Pays de Salers, in the northwest of Cantal. The village, dominated by the Château de la Trémolière which houses a collection of 17th-century Aubusson tapestries, is located in a landscape of wooded valleys and high-altitude meadows. The proximity to Salers, one of the most beautiful villages in France, and the Puy Mary route make Anglards a popular summer resort.
The August 14th car boot sale is not just about bargain hunting: the Association des Commerçants also offers entertainment throughout the day. Visitors can enjoy take-away catering thanks to the local businesses present on site. The day concludes with an evening dance, making this event a summer highlight in Anglards-de-Salers.
August 14th, the eve of August 15th, is a strategic date for car boot sales in Cantal. Many holidaymakers who have already arrived for the long Assumption weekend make the trip, ensuring a good turnout. The free pitches allow everyone to participate, reinforcing the popular and accessible nature of this event.
