The 2025 edition of the Vide-Grenier de Roquevaire was held on the church square and the cours du Patronage, in the heart of this Provençal village in the Huveaune valley, at the foot of the Garlaban massif. This summer car boot sale brought together locals and bargain hunters from Aubagne, Marseille, and surrounding towns for two days of outdoor treasure hunting. The private stalls offered tableware, books, clothing, toys, and trinkets at low prices, in the picturesque setting of this village nicknamed the 'city of painters', a short walk from the Merovingian Saint-Vincent chapel and the church housing its monumental organ.
The 2025 edition of the Vide-Grenier de Roquevaire brought together bargain hunters and sellers on the church square and the cours du Patronage, in the historic center of this Provençal village nestled in the Huveaune valley, dominated by the Garlaban massif. This late August summer event confirmed the attachment of locals and visitors to this friendly car boot sale, in the heart of a village steeped in history.
Under the summer sun, private exhibitors offered a wide variety of items: Provençal tableware and pottery, books and comics, clothing and accessories, children's toys, decorative trinkets, and small furniture. The village atmosphere, typical of flea markets in the hinterland of Marseille, charmed visitors who came to stroll among the stalls in the shade of the plane trees.
The exceptional heritage setting of Roquevaire added a cultural dimension to this day of treasure hunting. The Merovingian Saint-Vincent chapel, one of the oldest in Provence, the church and its organ with nearly 5,000 pipes, the Pont Bonaparte spanning the Huveaune, and the steep alleys of the old village offer an incomparable backdrop. The landscapes of the Garlaban, immortalized by Marcel Pagnol, complete the charm of this Provençal getaway.
