Remy Kastner spring flea market on the main street of Ernolsheim-Bruche
The Remy Kastner Flea Market is a spring event held in Ernolsheim-Bruche, a small Bas-Rhin village in the Bruche Valley a few kilometres from Molsheim. Set up along the main street that crosses the historic heart of the village, this flea market brings together dozens of private exhibitors offering clothing, toys, books, crockery, small furniture, decorative items and trinkets at bargain prices. In a friendly, typically Alsatian village atmosphere, bargain hunters and curious visitors wander the stalls throughout the day. Free entry, refreshments and light catering on site.
The Remy Kastner Flea Market is a spring gathering held each year in April on the main street of Ernolsheim-Bruche, a rural Bas-Rhin commune nestled along the Bruche River, halfway between Molsheim and Strasbourg. Organised with the support of local residents and merchants, it is part of the Alsatian tradition of village flea markets that enliven the streets and squares of small communes throughout the warm season. For a whole day, individuals unpack their treasures on improvised stalls in front of timber-framed houses or on makeshift tables, in a relaxed and warm atmosphere conducive to bargain hunting and meetings.
On the stalls, visitors can find a wide variety of items at gentle prices: clothing for children and adults (new or lightly worn), shoes, accessories, bags, old and modern toys, plush toys, books, comics, board games, vinyls and CDs, small appliances, crockery, glassware, household linen, trinkets, decorative items, frames, candlesticks, small furniture, DIY tools, gardening items, childcare equipment and a thousand other treasures. Prices are negotiable, the atmosphere is family-friendly, and children often find their happiness in the toy and plush stalls. For seasoned collectors, a few gems may be hidden at the turn of a stall: an old Alsatian postcard, an antique book, a forgotten advertising item.
Ernolsheim-Bruche is a rural commune of fewer than 2,000 inhabitants located about twenty kilometres west of Strasbourg, in the district of Molsheim. Crossed by the Bruche River, the village preserves a beautiful Alsatian rural heritage with its timber-framed houses, church and typical alleys. It is part of the Molsheim-Mutzig Region community of communes and enjoys an active community life, with several festive events organised throughout the year by local associations. The spring flea market is an opportunity for residents to gather, welcome visitors from neighbouring communes and bring the main village street to life for a day.
