Car boot sale for the patronal festival of Raulhac, free pitches in the village streets
Every first weekend of August, the village of Raulhac comes alive for its patronal festival, of which the car boot sale is one of the highlights. The village streets are transformed into an open-air market where individuals and bargain hunters meet in a festive and relaxed atmosphere. Pitches are free, which encourages wide participation from residents and holidaymakers passing through Carladès.
Raulhac is a commune in Carladès, in the south-east of Cantal, nestled in the Goul valley at the foot of the Cantal mountains. The village is distinguished by its remarkable heritage, notably the Château de Messilhac, a medieval fortress perched on a rocky outcrop. The surrounding landscape, made up of deep valleys and high-altitude pastures, offers an exceptional natural setting for this summer event.
The car boot sale is just one part of a rich festive program organized by the association Fest'à Raulhac. The patronal festival weekend includes numerous activities: fairground rides, pétanque competitions, a parade of decorated bikes, street shows, a ball and a musical meal. This festival brings together the entire village community and attracts many visitors to this preserved valley in Cantal.
The accessibility of the Raulhac car boot sale, with its free pitches and family atmosphere, makes it a popular event for the inhabitants of Carladès and tourists staying in the region. Exhibitors offer a wide variety of second-hand items, from trinkets to clothing, tableware, and toys, in the authentic setting of the village streets of Cantal.
