On Sunday, June 15, 2025, the Vide-Grenier de Ventabren took over the Plateau des Sports for a day of treasure hunting under the Provençal sun. From 7:30 AM, some 250 private exhibitors displayed their treasures on the stands: clothing, tableware, toys, books, vinyl records, small furniture, and trinkets of all kinds. Until 6:00 PM, visitors strolled through the aisles in search of good deals, enjoying the refreshments and buffet offered by the organizers.
This annual car boot sale is part of the community and festive life of Ventabren, a perched village of about 5,600 inhabitants located about ten kilometers from Aix-en-Provence. Dominated by the ruins of Queen Jeanne's castle, a 10th-century medieval fortress, the village offers from its heights a striking panorama of Mont Sainte-Victoire, the Étoile mountain range, and the Arc valley, where the majestic Roquefavour aqueduct stands, the tallest ashlar stone aqueduct in the world with its 82 meters high.
Bargain hunters could extend their visit with a stroll through the cobbled streets (calades) of the old village, up to the 17th-century Saint-Denis Church and its classified altarpiece from the School of Avignon. Signposted access from the SNCF train station facilitated visitor arrival, and the exhibitor fee of €2.80 per linear meter allowed many individuals to offer their items at low prices.
