Grand car boot sale in the heart of Trets, medieval city at the foot of Sainte-Victoire
The Vide-Grenier de Trets is a must-attend event for bargain hunters in the Bouches-du-Rhône region. Organized by the city's Festivities Department, this event brings together around 300 private exhibitors along Avenue Mirabeau, Boulevard de la République, Cours Esquiros, and Avenue Jean Jaurès, right in the city center of this charming Provençal town. From 9 am to 5 pm, visitors and families browse the stalls in search of good deals in a remarkable historic setting, between medieval ramparts and the 12th-century Château des Remparts.
Each year, the town of Trets hosts its grand car boot sale, a popular event that takes over the main streets of the city center. With nearly 300 private exhibitors spread along Avenue Mirabeau, Boulevard de la République, Cours Esquiros, and Avenue Jean Jaurès, this event offers a vast outdoor hunting ground in one of the most beautiful medieval cities in the upper Arc valley.
Trets is a small town with a strong medieval character, nestled at the foot of the Sainte-Victoire massif and the Regagnas chain. Its Château des Remparts, a 12th and 13th-century building classified as a historic monument, overlooks the Place du 14 Juillet. Formerly the residence of the viscounts of Marseille, this L-shaped castle covers about 2,500 m² and four floors, adorned with battlements and gargoyles. The fortified enclosure originally had eight square towers and four drawbridge gates. The church of Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth, with its baroque interior, and the hermitage of Saint-Jean-du-Puy, offering an exceptional panorama of Provence, complete this exceptional heritage. Trets is also recognized as the world capital of the iris.
The Trets car boot sale offers a wide variety of items typical of Provençal events: crockery and ceramics, books and comics, clothing and accessories, toys and board games, furniture and decorative objects, gardening tools, and trinkets of all kinds. Prices, set by individuals, generally remain very affordable, and negotiation is part of the fun of bargain hunting.
The center of Trets, with its shaded alleys and squares lined with plane trees, offers a particularly pleasant setting for a day of flea marketing. On-site catering allows you to eat between finds, while free parking on the outskirts of the center facilitates access. Located just 25 minutes from Aix-en-Provence and 40 minutes from Marseille, Trets is an ideal destination to combine bargain hunting with discovering Provençal heritage.
Individuals wishing to exhibit can register with the Market Management at the Trets town hall, located at Place du 14 Juillet. As spaces are limited, registrations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Exhibitors can set up from 6 am and must leave by 7:30 pm. Entry is free for visitors.
The Vide-Grenier de Trets returns on August 22, 2026, in the streets of the city center of this medieval town at the foot of Sainte-Victoire. Approximately 300 private exhibitors will offer their finds to bargain hunters, from 9 am to 5 pm, with free entry.
