L'Épine is one of the four historic communes of Noirmoutier island, alongside Barbâtre, La Guérinière and Noirmoutier-en-l'Île. On the east coast, this community of 1,700 inhabitants lives to the rhythm of salt marshes and oyster beds. The spring flea market is part of a local tradition of off-season events.

Scheduled 15 May 2026, the market lets residents and early holidaymakers find bargains before peak season. The atmosphere is peaceful and typical of the island.

A unique heritage

L'Épine is famous for its Morin port, its Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours church and for hosting part of the Pays du Sel. Island salt workers produce salt renowned throughout France. The white alleys with blue shutters add character.

Beyond the hunt

Via Noirmoutier bridge (free, always open) or Gois causeway (low tide only). About 1h15 from Nantes, 1h30 from Les Sables-d'Olonne.
