Brocante and vintage vehicles at the confluence of Viaur and Aveyron
Laguépie's flea market, run by the Rétro Véhicule du Rouergue association on Avenue de la Gare, blends traditional bargain hunting with a vintage vehicle show. It's a much-loved summer event drawing brocante and classic-car fans, in the green setting of the Viaur and Aveyron confluence.
In high summer, the Rétro Véhicule du Rouergue association hosts an original flea market in Laguépie, mixing traditional brocante with a display of vintage cars and classic utility vehicles. The event takes place on Avenue de la Gare, in the lower part of the village, near the confluence of the Viaur and Aveyron rivers that defines this commune on the Tarn-et-Garonne / Aveyron border.
The flea market starts very early — from 6 AM for sellers — and runs until late afternoon, around 6 PM. Vintage car fans come to admire the displayed models (old Citroëns, Peugeots, Renaults, motorbikes, sometimes farm machines), while bargain hunters browse the stands. The association applies simple rates: €15 for the first 5 metres, then €10 per additional 5-metre slot. Food and brand-new items are not allowed, preserving the authenticity of the market.
The spirit stays that of a country flea market: crockery, books, toys, clothes, knick-knacks, small furniture. But the vintage vehicles give the event a true identity, drawing collectors of car parts and memorabilia (sheet metal, enamel signs, garage tools, vintage car accessories). Enthusiasts gather around the engines, share memories, haggle in the shade of the plane trees.
Laguépie sits at the north-east tip of Tarn-et-Garonne in an exceptional spot at the confluence of two rivers. Dominated by medieval castle ruins, the village offers a river beach — perfect to cool off on a summer day — and several hiking trails. The Sunday market and local producers add to its appeal.
Come early for parking and to grab the best pieces. Bring a hat, water and comfortable shoes. Many visitors combine the flea market with a swim or picnic at the confluence.
