Vide-Grenier de Jouques

In 2025, the Vide-Grenier de Jouques took place on the banks of the Réal, boulevard du Réal, in this Provençal village located twenty-six kilometers northeast of Aix-en-Provence. Organized by the association Animaux en Péril, this solidarity event brought together about a hundred exhibitors along the stream, in a shaded and family-friendly setting.

Individuals and professionals offered a wide selection of second-hand items — clothing, tableware, toys, books, trinkets, and small furniture — while a refreshment stand and a catering area allowed visitors to eat between finds. Entry was free, and all proceeds were donated to the association, which rescues and cares for abandoned or mistreated animals in the Bouches-du-Rhône.

Jouques, a millennial village perched on a limestone hill overlooking the Durance valley, offered its authentic Provençal setting to bargain hunters and strollers. Visitors could extend their day by wandering through the colorful shuttered streets of the old village, admiring the secular fountains of the boulevard de la République, or taking the trail leading to the remains of the Roman aqueduct of Traconnade, an ancient thirty-kilometer structure that once transported water from the Jouques springs to Aix-en-Provence.
