Every July, the village of Bonlieu, nestled in the Haut-Jura by its turquoise lake, hosts an intimate summer car boot sale. With fewer than 50 exhibitors, the event retains the charm of small mountain gatherings where people take the time to browse and chat.
The very early opening, from 5 am, allows the most motivated bargain hunters to enjoy the cool Jura morning air to browse the stalls. Exhibitors offer the contents of their attics: crockery, trinkets, books, toys, clothes, and everyday items at low prices. The car boot sale continues until 6 pm.
One of the attractions of this car boot sale is its quality on-site catering: sausages, merguez, fries, and wood-fired pizzas are offered to visitors. The refreshment stand provides drinks throughout the day. This turns bargain hunting into a real gourmet outing in the mountains.
Bonlieu is a high-altitude village located at about 800 meters in the Haut-Jura natural park. Its lake, a classified natural site, is renowned for its exceptional blue-green waters and its hiking trails. The famous Hérisson waterfalls are just a few kilometers away. The car boot sale is an opportunity to combine bargain hunting with discovering this remarkable natural area.
The Bonlieu car boot sale returns in July 2026 in the heart of the Haut-Jura, starting at 5 am.
