The Vide-Grenier de Belmont-sur-Rance enlivened the streets of the village center of this perched medieval village for its 2025 edition. Organized by the Comité des fêtes de Belmont-sur-Rance, the event was held in the heart of summer, attracting exhibitors and visitors to a remarkable heritage setting.
The stalls, set up in the historic center at the foot of the imposing Saint-Michel collegiate church, offered the usual variety of Aveyron car boot sales: crockery and kitchenware, books and magazines, clothing for the whole family, toys, tools, furniture, and various trinkets. The earliest bargain hunters took advantage of the cool morning to find the best deals, while strollers ambled throughout the day between the aisles lined with medieval houses.
Belmont-sur-Rance, a commune of about 1,000 inhabitants labeled Station Verte, offers an exceptional setting for this type of event. The village, built on a promontory overlooking the Rance valley, retains a rich architectural heritage: the flamboyant Gothic pink sandstone collegiate church classified as a Historic Monument, the 12th-century old bridge spanning the river, and a network of medieval streets with stone facades that invite exploration. In the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional des Grands Causses, the village is located in the Rougiers natural region, characterized by its red Permian sandstone soils contrasting with the surrounding greenery.
