Association Gaspard de Besse organises each year one of the largest flea markets in central Var. Over 200 exhibitors take over the lakeside and village centre of Besse-sur-Issole, offering a unique setting combining chining, lakeside walks and heritage discovery.
A flea market with an exceptional setting
Among Var flea markets, the Besse-sur-Issole one has a special place thanks to its setting: the Besse lake, a renowned bathing spot in Provence Verte, framed by pine forests and rolling hills.
Association Gaspard de Besse at the organisation
Association Gaspard de Besse, named after the famous 18th-century bandit born in Besse-sur-Issole, has run this major annual meet for several years. Around 200 exhibitors respond each year.
What you will find
With 200 stands, the flea market offers exceptional diversity: adult and children's clothing, old and modern toys, books, knick-knacks, crockery, lighting, small furniture, vinyl records, comics, old tools.
A full day
From 8am to 4pm, the event paces the Sunday. Morning attracts serious chiners. Lunchtime disperses the crowd to the association's refreshment stand, picnic tables by the lake, or village restaurants.
Besse-sur-Issole, a charming destination
The village alone deserves the trip: stone houses, Saint-Antoine chapel, old washhouse, fountains, narrow lanes. The bandit Gaspard de Besse, immortalised by his statue, adds a romantic dimension.
