Meeting of antique watch and clock collectors in Var
Far from the major Paris or Geneva shows, the Besse-sur-Issole Watchmaking Fair stands out as a singular meet in the Var calendar. Organised in the village multipurpose hall, it gathers each year collectors, repairers and watchmaking enthusiasts from all over Provence.
The fair offers a complete range of the watchmaking universe: vintage mechanical watches from the 1940s-1970s, silver or gold pocket watches, collectible chronographs, mantel clocks, old alarm clocks, pendulettes, regulators, cuckoo clocks, not forgetting detached movements, balances, springs, crystals, hands, straps and all the spare parts restorers dream of.
Unlike general flea markets where antique watches are sometimes encountered without information, the Besse Fair exclusively brings together specialists.
At the heart of Provence Verte, Besse-sur-Issole is a picturesque village organised around its pond - the Besse pond - and birthplace of the famous bandit Gaspard de Besse.
The Watchmaking Fair attracts a specialist audience: Var and Riviera collectors, professional watchmakers seeking spare parts, enthusiasts identifying an inherited watch.
