Labour Day Car Boot Sale and Creator Market in Deluz, Doubs Valley
Every May 1st, the village of Deluz (25960) comes alive to host its traditional car boot sale organized by ASCLD (Association Sportive Culturelle et de Loisirs de Deluz). In the streets of this beautiful village in the Doubs Valley, located halfway between Besançon and Baume-les-Dames, private sellers display their second-hand treasures: clothes, furniture, crockery, books, toys, and all sorts of curiosities from Doubs attics.
The unique feature of the Deluz car boot sale is the combination of the traditional second-hand market with an indoor creator market. Art artisans, textile designers, ceramists, jewellers, and other local artists offer their original creations in an adjacent covered space. This dual offering enriches the visitor experience and attracts a wider audience, keen to support local artisanal creation.
Deluz is a village of about 500 inhabitants located in the Doubs Valley, a few kilometers upstream from Baume-les-Dames. The Doubs River, with its fast-flowing waters, winds below the village, offering walkers beautiful landscapes of limestone cliffs and meanders. The Saint-Georges church and the typical white stone houses of the region make Deluz an authentic and charming village in the Doubs.
The Association Sportive Culturelle et de Loisirs de Deluz (ASCLD) is the main player in local community life. Throughout the year, it organizes cultural and sporting events for the village inhabitants: theatre performances, outings, and festive events, with the May 1st car boot sale being the flagship event.
