May 1st Street Sale in Feins, a village by the Étang du Boulet in Ille-et-Vilaine
The Feins street sale is held every year on May 1st in this picturesque village on the edge of the Étang du Boulet, north of Ille-et-Vilaine. Exhibitors and bargain hunters gather in the village center for a festive day of treasure hunting, with second-hand items, flea market finds, and village conviviality.
Every May 1st, the village of Feins comes alive for its annual street sale. Exhibitors – individuals and second-hand dealers – offer a wide selection of items: clothing, toys, trinkets, tableware, books, tools, garden furniture, vinyl records, and collector's items. The event takes advantage of the public holiday to attract a large crowd of bargain hunters from Rennes, Combourg, and throughout the northern part of the department. The atmosphere is festive and relaxed.
Feins is a commune of about 1,000 inhabitants located 30 km north of Rennes, in the community of communes of Val d'Ille-Aubigné. The village is best known for the Étang du Boulet, a vast 100-hectare body of water designated as a Sensitive Natural Area, a refuge for remarkable birdlife (grebes, herons, ducks). The shores of the pond offer popular walking trails. The village of Feins retains its parish church and granite farmhouses, testaments to the rural heritage of northern Ille-et-Vilaine.
The Feins street sale is an opportunity to combine treasure hunting and nature. After browsing the stalls, visitors can extend their day with a walk around the Étang du Boulet, just a few minutes' walk from the village. Refreshments and food are also available. Admission is free.
The Feins street sale returns on May 1st, 2026.
