Full clear-out in the garden and on the terrace
The vide-maison (house clearance) differs sharply from a classic flea market. Where a flea market gathers many exhibitors each with a few items, the vide-maison offers the full contents of one home : furniture, appliances, tableware, linen, books, décor, kitchen utensils, garden tools, sometimes vehicles. The exhibitor is alone, usually a private party winding up a home for moving, estate or simplification. The format, growing fast, attracts hunters who love whole lots or rare pieces.
The event runs in the garden and on the terrace of a private property. Hunters can walk the whole site, room by room or zone by zone. They find antique furniture – Provençal cupboards, dressers, tables – alongside modern appliances – washer, fridge, TVs – and everything a house accumulates.
Three reasons pull hunters. First, real bargains : sellers prize volume over per-item price. Second, finds that fit together – a library, a tea service, embroidered linen. Third, a patrimonial side : you step into a family story.
Taradeau, a Dracénie commune between Les Arcs and Lorgues, is a typical Haut-Var wine village. Côtes de Provence estates, old stones, medieval castle, Romanesque church of Saint-Martin. Preserved ambience.
Arrive very early : the best pieces go in the first hours. Suitable vehicle (van for furniture). Cash and cheque/card where accepted. Negotiate, especially on lots.
