The Street Sale of Montbéliard Merchants is an annual commercial event organized by the Signé Montbé association (Association of Montbéliard businesses) at the end of March. For two days, over 150 city center businesses offer their items at bargain prices: flash sales, sidewalk displays, entertainment. On Saturday, non-resident merchants also take over the Cours des 50, transforming the heart of the city into a vast festive and popular market.
Every end of March, the center of Montbéliard transforms for a weekend into a vast open-air market. The Street Sale of Merchants, organized by the Signé Montbé association, brings together over 150 businesses from the city center for a festive and popular commercial operation. Two days to enjoy great deals, bargain prices, and a unique atmosphere in the pedestrian streets of Montbéliard.
The street sale generally takes place over two days. On Friday, the shopkeepers launch their promotional sales, offering their regular customers a day of discounted shopping. Saturday is the main day of the street sale: in addition to the shops open with their sidewalk displays, non-resident merchants take over the Cours des 50 and the pedestrian streets, multiplying the stands and the available offers.
Signé Montbé is the association that brings together the businesses of Montbéliard city center. It works to animate local commerce and enhance the attractiveness of the city center, organizing commercial operations and public events throughout the year. The March street sale is one of its annual highlights, complementing the calendar of markets, year-end festivities, and other seasonal events.
Montbéliard has a lively city center, marked by a unique architecture inherited from the Duchy of Württemberg: colorful half-timbered facades, Place Saint-Martin and its castle overlooking the city, covered market halls, and commercial pedestrian streets. The street sale is naturally part of this commercial and popular tradition, attracting residents from the Montbéliard region – one of the largest in Franche-Comté with over 140,000 inhabitants.
