Every spring, the village of Crayssac comes alive with its annual car boot sale organized by the association Écoute Joue Vis. This summer event marks the opening of the beautiful season in this village of Bouriane quercinoise, located 15 kilometers northwest of Cahors. Private sellers and bargain hunters gather for this friendly day that combines treasure hunting, gastronomy, and village life.
Crayssac is a village of 782 inhabitants full of landscape contrasts, situated on the border between the sandy Bouriane and the limestone causses of Quercy. 15 kilometers from Cahors, it overlooks the Lot valley from its 303 meters altitude, offering remarkable views of the river's meander. Its territory covers nearly 15 km² between chestnut woods (30% of the municipal area), causses, vineyards, and meadows. Crayssac is world-renowned for its "dinosaur beach," an exceptional paleontological site where footprints and fossils of flying reptiles dating back 140 million years have been discovered in a limestone quarry. This protected and promoted site is accessible to the public and is one of the most remarkable scientific curiosities in the Lot.
The association Écoute Joue Vis, active in the cultural and social life of Crayssac, is the organizer of this spring car boot sale. It coordinates the reception of exhibitors, site setup, and on-site catering. The event brings together private sellers offering clothes, books, toys, trinkets, crockery, tools, and various items from their attics. The variety of stalls delights flea market enthusiasts and curious shoppers looking for a good deal.
In Crayssac, as in the best rural car boot sales in the Lot, catering is an integral part of the event. Grilled meats and homemade fries are offered on-site, as well as a bar that is lively throughout the day. This gourmet offering contributes to the festive and relaxed atmosphere of the event, which is also an opportunity to meet up with neighbors and friends.
The Crayssac spring car boot sale is generally held at the end of March or beginning of April, on a Sunday. The village is accessible from Cahors via the D653 towards Catus, then via the D23 towards Crayssac. Entry is free for visitors. Parking is available around the village.
The 2026 spring car boot sale returns to Crayssac on Sunday, March 29th. Organized by the association Écoute Joue Vis, it features private sellers, grilled meats, homemade fries, and drinks in this Quercy village 15 km from Cahors. Free entry.
