The Siewiller Flea Market is part of the vibrant tradition of Alsatian village brocantes, those popular events that punctuate the spring and summer calendar in the Bas-Rhin. In Alsace Bossue, a rural and hilly territory situated between Saverne and Sarreguemines, village flea markets are true social gatherings, bringing together residents in a cheerful atmosphere. In Siewiller, it is the Les Primevères association that takes charge of organising this event, mobilising volunteers and residents to welcome exhibitors and visitors. Rue des Églises and the surroundings of the community hall are transformed into a vast open-air market where around thirty private sellers offer their finds and everyday objects.

Bargain hunting in a bucolic setting

The stalls of the Siewiller flea market offer an eclectic panorama of items: adult and children's clothing, toys, books, CDs and vinyls, trinkets, antique and modern crockery, glassware, small furniture, household linen, decorative items, garden tools, childcare accessories and countless unusual objects. Prices are modest, exchanges warm, negotiations cordial — the typical spirit of small country brocantes where the pleasure of discovery takes precedence over the transaction. The refreshment stand and catering, run by the Primevères volunteers, offer flammekueche, grilled sausages and cold drinks, allowing visitors to pleasantly extend their visit.

Siewiller, a peaceful village in Alsace Bossue

Siewiller is a small commune in the Bas-Rhin of around 200 inhabitants, attached to the canton of Drulingen and the Alsace Bossue community of communes. This territory, on the border of Alsace and Lorraine, is distinguished by its wooded hill landscapes, orchards, meadows and villages with typical pink sandstone houses. Alsace Bossue takes its name from the 'hunchbacked' relief of its hills, forming a gentle, rolling landscape that is a pleasure to explore by bicycle or on foot. Community life is dynamic: the Les Primevères association organises cultural activities, outings and events throughout the year for the benefit of village life, including this spring flea market which attracts bargain hunters and walkers from the whole area.
