Well established in the calendar of sewing and creative hobby enthusiasts, the Seamstresses' Flea Market of Les Clayes-sous-Bois returns on Saturday 4 April 2026 for a highly anticipated edition. Organised by the ADFLES Clayes association, this specialised fair stands apart from classic flea markets with its exclusive focus on sewing, haberdashery and creative hobbies. It attracts a knowledgeable crowd from across the ÃŽle-de-France region each year, hunting for remnants, accessories and equipment at friendly prices.
Stalls offer a wide variety of sought-after items: new fabric remnants or end-of-line cuts, balls of yarn, embroidery threads, old or new buttons, lace, ribbons, zips, trims, patterns, sewing magazines and specialised books. Second-hand gear also has its place: sewing machines, overlockers, scissors, rulers and other tools. Some exhibitors empty their workshops while others sell off haberdashery stocks or creative kits.
The atmosphere differs noticeably from a classic flea market: amateur and advanced sewists, knitters, embroiderers, patchworkers and traditional embroidery enthusiasts rub shoulders. Advice is freely shared, technical chats flow easily, and the event fully plays its role as a meeting point for enthusiasts. It is hosted at the Henri Prou school, rue Jacques Duclos, in a school setting that makes navigating the stalls easy.
ADFLES Clayes, a local association active in community life, organises this seamstresses' flea market each year to encourage sharing and connections between enthusiasts. Proceeds help fund the association's activities and projects. This event is a testament to the vibrant associative life of Les Clayes-sous-Bois, a town of nearly 18,000 inhabitants west of Versailles.
Located between Versailles, Plaisir and Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Les Clayes-sous-Bois enjoys a green setting near the Bois d'Arcy forest. It is served by RER C (Villepreux – Les Clayes station) and several bus lines, placing it around 30 minutes from Paris. The Henri Prou school on rue Jacques Duclos is easily accessible by car or public transport.
