Scouts and Guides 1er Bayard Garage Sale

A long-standing scout event

The Scouts and Guides of France 1er Bayard Garage Sale is one of the oldest and most anticipated May 1st events in Lingolsheim. Organized by volunteers from the local scout group, it funds the summer camps, weekends and educational activities of the young scouts, guides, brownies, cubs and pioneers each year. Beyond the commercial aspect, it's also a moment for intergenerational encounters and civic mobilization in the service of youth.

A neighborhood transformed into a giant flea market

The garage sale takes over rue du Travail and the vast Maxime Alexandre College parking lot, offering several hundred spots to private exhibitors. Stalls overflow with children's and adult clothing, toys, books, board games, dishware, trinkets, small household appliances, decoration, nursery items, records, CDs, DVDs and sports equipment. Bargain hunters often make excellent deals from the early hours. The scouts handle reception, guidance and a refreshment stand with light catering (drinks, grilled food, pastries) whose proceeds go entirely to the group.

Lingolsheim, city of the Strasbourg metropolitan area

Lingolsheim, a commune of nearly 19,000 inhabitants located west of Strasbourg in the Eurometropole, forms the south of the conurbation together with Ostwald and Illkirch-Graffenstaden. Well connected to central Strasbourg by tram and buses, the town has a rich community life. The 1er Bayard Scouts and Guides of France group has been established there for a long time and actively participates in local life. This May 1st garage sale has become a must-attend event for residents throughout the Eurometropole.
