Major 8 May flea market in Salouël, nearly 400 exhibitors
With its 400 announced exhibitors, the Salouël 8 May Brocante is among the biggest events on the Picard réderie calendar. Held Friday 8 May 2026 from 6.30am to 6pm, it spreads across three major streets of the town: rue du 8 Mai 1945, rue Ferdinand Buisson and rue des Moutiers. This scale makes it a must-visit for bargain hunters from across the Amiens metropolitan area and western Picardy.
The multi-street setup spreads the 400 stalls without congestion while keeping a compact, busy atmosphere. Rue du 8 Mai 1945 fittingly bears the event's date. Rue Ferdinand Buisson, named after the educator and Nobel Peace laureate, runs alongside residential areas. Rue des Moutiers completes the circuit. Organised hunters plan their route logically; keen ones make several loops.
With 400 exhibitors the offering is extraordinarily varied. Private sellers: clothes, toys, books, tableware, small furniture, trinkets. Professional dealers: antiques, antique furniture, crystal, silverware, paintings, collectibles, militaria, ceramics, numismatics, philately. Specialist collectors: vinyl, postcards, comics, collector toys, vintage. Something for every level of hunter.
Salouël is a commune of nearly 4,000 residents in the Amiens Métropole, south-west of the prefecture. Served by the Nemo B line (Amiens BRT), it retains a mixed character between residential suburb and small lively town. Its territory has sport facilities, schools, local shops and a lively community life. The 8 May Brocante is one of the highlights of local life.
Running a 400-stall brocante requires solid organisation. Exhibitors set up from 6.30am, visitors arrive from 7-8am for early bargains, peak attendance is 9am-4pm. Traffic is banned on the affected streets, parking in adjacent streets and public facility car parks. Refreshments from local associations and a few food trucks: sandwiches, chips, crêpes, hot meals, drinks.
For a brocante this size, plan for hours of exploring, enough cash (many sellers don't take cards), a sturdy bag or trolley, comfortable shoes, and ideally a vehicle for bulky finds. Mornings favour the best pieces, late afternoons suit negotiations on unsold items. Not to be missed by fans of big urban brocantes.
