The annual bargain hunters' meeting at the Sainte-Gemme village hall
Each year in June, the Sainte-Gemme Village Committee sets up its garage sale at the communal village hall. This spring event attracts both local residents and bargain hunters from neighbouring communes, who come to find rare treasures at gentle prices in a relaxed and warm atmosphere.
Sainte-Gemme is a small commune in the Pays Mellois, nestled in the Deux-Sèvres countryside between Melle and Chef-Boutonne. Its rolling terrain, dotted with limestone farms and hedge-lined paths, provides an ideal bucolic setting for a Sunday outing.
Exhibitors, exclusively private sellers, offer the classic garage sale range: clothing for the whole family, toys and games, crockery and household items, books, records, trinkets and small furniture. The village hall offers the advantage of a covered space, with outdoor extensions when the weather permits.
